Let’s be honest, sis; you need money to start a blog that eventually makes you money. However, it doesn’t take any money to plan out every step of the way before spending any money. In this post I’m going to teach you everything you need to know to create your free blogging plan.

Thousands of articles offer free information on starting a blog and what you need to do to succeed. Your first order of business is to plan.

Planning out your blog will save you so much time after setting up and designing your beautiful website.

I love to plan anyway, so having a map to determine where to go next was extremely helpful. I go into detail on how to plan your blog here.

This blog outline will get you 10 steps ahead of the game when it’s time to start posting.

Know your goal | Free Blogging Plan

You need to know why you are spending all of this time and energy on starting a blog.

It is important to write down what you intend on doing with your blog, how long you plan to stay in business, and how much money you want to make.

Once you lay out the groundwork like this, it will be easier for you to decide where to get started.

Creating an outline of your goals before setting up your blog will help tremendously when choosing certain aspects of designing your website.

Everything should reach that target number or achieve that goal of making readers happy by putting out good content that they find helpful.

Read as much free material you can

If you search Pinterest on every aspect of blogging, you will find that someone is always offering you a bit of important information in exchange for your email address.

Take the bait! Sign up for as many freebies as you want and use them to your advantage. You can always unsubscribe later.

Most of the time, the emails these bloggers send are helpful, so you may want to stay subscribed to some of them.

Some are just annoying, so don’t feel bad about unsubscribing to content that doesn’t serve you any purpose.

Don’t stop at one freebie per topic, either. You’ll find that if you put 3 or 4 blogging perspectives together, you’ll get the correct answer that works for you without spending any money on courses.

Free Courses | Free Blogging Plan

Believe it or not, you can find free courses that off you a lot of information that can get you on the right track in your blogging business.

If you find a course that interests you, sign up and gather as much free information as you can. At the very least, it is a way to guide you one step at a time.

I recommend signing up for more than just one free course because they have different important secrets to you as a blogger.

Not every tip works for everyone, so don’t be afraid to try out what works for others.

Free Ebooks

Remember to constantly google your topic because you’ll be surprised what pops up.

If a blog offers you a free eBook on blogging, read it and take notes!

You will get different perspectives from various bloggers when you search Google, so save this material in a folder when possible because every bit of knowledge helps.

Blogging Podcasts

My favorite way to gather insight is through podcasts featuring people who are blogging successfully doing what I want to do.

I find this format so much more helpful than reading articles because it comes right through your speakers!

This is an affordable way to get solid answers because the blogger is speaking directly to you.

Take notes when listening to podcasts on what works for them and what doesn’t work. Some bloggers might be able to offer insight that others neglect, so just listen in-depth.

You’ll hear a lot of mistakes that can be avoided if listeners apply certain information right away.

After all, there’s no need to reinvent the wheel when someone else has already done the hard part for you!

YouTube | Free Blogging Plan

You can find bloggers talking about their successes and failures on YouTube in an open forum that doesn’t cost any money.

YouTube is one of the blogging saviors! You can figure out anything you need to know about blogging by watching a YouTube video.

From building your blog to SEO tactics, YouTube is your friend.

This video taught me a lot about SEO and how to rank on Google. Check it out.

Surround yourself with others who do the same thing as you

Blogging communities exist all over the place! A great way to gather knowledge on your topic is by connecting with others on the same journey.

They may have particular insights that have been helpful for them that will work well for you, so don’t be afraid to ask questions.

You should also look up seminars and conferences in your area that other bloggers may attend. You can get a lot out of attending these events. Don’t hesitate to network with other bloggers.

Be patient

It’s easy to purchase a course that costs less than $30 and expect overnight results. It just doesn’t work that way!

With this being said, don’t get discouraged if you’re not seeing any movement from your blog after one month of planning and reading articles.

I have been blogging for over a year now and am only starting to see the type of revenue I want coming in regularly.

My advice, stick with it! You can do it if you work consistently.

Create A Blogging Schedule

You also need to find a schedule that works for you. I blog on my lunch break at work, after dinner, and before bed.

Most nights, I am up until 1 or 2 a.m., but I still find time to do it all! Set aside an hour every day to sit at the computer and write your next post no matter what else is going on in your life.

If something conflicts with your schedule. Don’t get overwhelmed with sticking to a schedule; however, it’s good to have one to keep you motivated.

Always Have a Topic Planned | Free Blogging Plan

My favorite part of blogging is coming up with ideas for topics! These days, my notes app on my smartphone is filled with things I want to blog about.

I have many random thoughts every day, so I jot them down to get out of my head whenever it’s time to blog.

My best advice for generating ideas is to look around you.

What are people talking about? What are people searching for most online?

You can find out by doing keyword research.

What is Keyword Research?

Keyword research is the process of determining which keywords people are searching for on any given topic. There are tools available to decide on this, like Google Keyword Planner and Ahrefs.

Use Pinterest for keyword research.

Pinterest is going to become your best friend once you enter your blogging journey. Get familiar with it and all its wonders.

The main thing you need to focus on before starting is keywords.

When you search a general topic on Pinterest, you will see more keywords involving that topic if you scroll down a few times to the right of the screen.

These are the most searched words involving your general topic. This is a free way to plan your blog posts. People pay for tools like Semrush and Ahref every month to get keywords.

Once you are further along with blogging, you may want to invest in a program like that.

However, Pinterest does an excellent job of keeping its keywords current and relevant to the topics searched.

Don’t be afraid of failure.

There are too many articles about how blogging works out for everyone. Yes, it does work out for some people. I’m not saying that it doesn’t, BUT MOST PEOPLE FAIL AT THIS FOR A LONG TIME BEFORE THEY SEE PROGRESS.

Don’t be one of those people who think success comes quickly or overnight. Most successful bloggers spent YEARS working on their blog before they made a profit.

I read a lot of blogs before starting my own and didn’t even know it was possible to make money from blogging until I stumbled onto someone who did it full-time.

Every blog starts out the same way, which is with an empty WordPress dashboard. It doesn’t really matter if you start a blog for free or spend a ton of money on a course to get started. Everyone begins somewhere.

Hope these tips helped! While I did say these were beginner tips, even experienced bloggers can use a reminder once in a while.

Until next time…Happy Blogging!
